Color perception has been known to be subjective and thus medical exams such as the red desaturation test remains as a qualitative exam. This App has been developed using the color difference formula CIE94 that generates a just noticeable value providing a quantitative approach to the traditional red desaturation test. This bedside tool allows either initial screening or follow up testing of patients optic nerve condition. Clinical trials have shown successful detection of optic neuritis in patients and consistent results with visual evoked potential exams. This is a monocular examination and thus one eye is tested at a time while the other remains closed or covered.
